I was thrilled when Tricia contacted me to see if I could take her maternity and newborn photos. Even though I’m not officially taking on any sessions right now, I hold a special place in my heart for clients who have been in front of my camera before…you can check out Tricia & Bryan’s engagement pictures and wedding photos for a little trip down memory lane. I’m pretty sure these two are the sweetest couple I know, it’s quite adorable to watch how in love they are after more than 10 years together. It wasn’t hard to get these two to be romantic for the camera…and they totally knew the drill too, hold the pose/smooch/hug for more than 30 seconds! It was so great to catch up with you two, can’t wait to meet your little one and have him or her in front of my camera. Thanks for being so amazing! Enjoy your sneak peek:

This first image I took right after I arrived at the park, thinking of blowing it up big for the big blank wall in my family room…thoughts?

I loved the contrast of Trish’s red sweater with the muted landscape.

My absolute favorite image of the day…doesn’t she looks stunning? She knows how to work the camera, that’s for sure!

Seriously, that picture of Tricia , the upside down, blows me away. GORGEOUSNESS!!All the best with these last few weeks of pregnancy, I hope they go smoothly and quickly! Can’t wait to hear the good news

Beautiful Marg | Abbotsford Maternity Photographer

My beautiful and talented baby sister is now a mom of two! Waaaay back in February we hung out one Saturday morning to grab some shots of her tiny and adorable tummy, and of course we brought along Jake (he was perfect at keeping Liam occupied while we were grabbing some solo shots of Marg) and Liam (cupcake eater extraordinaire) for some shots as well. Boys…thank you for being so patient!

I love this time before. The time before they are a family of four. Before life changes and grows and becomes even more amazing (and busier!). Capturing life on the brink of a whole new world that is the same and yet different…even more wonderful and now filled with a new beautiful baby girl to love and lots of pink to help even out the blue.

So glad we were able to capture this time when you were still a family of three…Baby Eden will be up on the blog next!

Marg was totally game for a jumping shot (she was hoping it would maybe have brought on labor!)

No such luck, it was still a few weeks before Eden made her grand entrance.

And seriously…check out that tiny little bump! Doesn’t Marg look amazing?

Alyssa | Abbotsford Maternity Photography

There’s so much I want to say, that I almost can’t put it into words…but this girl is gorgeous, both inside and out, and I’m blessed to call her a friend. What started out as a few emails back and forth over three years ago, has turned into a wonderful friendship that I’m so thankful for. I love that we have a common love for photography, but there’s so much more to our friendship too. Alyssa is a wonderful photographer over the border in the Sumas/Lynden/Nooksack/Everson/Bellingham area. Check out her website: Alyssa Brown Photography

In the end, it took a little encouragement and schedule wrangling for these pics to happen. I’m sure many of you can relate to the last trimester blahs…feeling tired, achy, sore, swollen and *too* pregnant, and the last thing you want to do is get dolled up for pictures. But I also know that in the midst of a long nine months and after baby is born, it’s so easy to forget all the amazing aspects of pregnancy. Afterwards you will be so glad to have these images, I promise!

And when it comes down to it, there is something so incredibly beautiful about pregnancy. Even when you might not feel it or think it’s there, it is. There’s a special glow, this amazing fullness, and totally magical about this time of waiting and growing and changing that it just begs to be captured. I’m honored that Alyssa asked me to capture this special time in her life.

This entire session was done in the pouring rain…We found some great cover, and shot the entire session in about 15 minutes!

Can you believe that this is baby #4 for Alyssa? She looks amazing!

I especially love the outfit she put together, all the accessories are perfect!

One of the things I love about photography, is that it has allowed me to meet some pretty amazing people. Andrea and I connected over email, and as we went through all the pre-session stuff, we found out that we have a lot in common. Especially our love of reading, and we discovered that we have read and enjoyed many of the same books. When Andie (as her family and friends call her) agreed that the pumpkin patch would be a great place for some of her pictures, I was looking forward to meeting her and her husband even more! I always love it when clients are up for something a bit different.

We started the session at their beautiful home. Andrea has an amazing eye for design, and has created a cozy and stylish home that had me drooling! We discovered we also had a mutual love for interior design (although she’s much better at the actual execution part of it all…I just plan, and dream and never actually do the decorating. LOL). Well, you can see for yourself some of their gorgeous home below:

Meet their adorable dog Kingston (who is going to be in for some changes when baby makes his/her arrival!).

He’s the tiniest dog I’ve ever met…a little Yorkie weighing in under 3lbs if I remember correctly

Andrea looked positively amazing. 37ish weeks and glowing! What a beautiful mama.

Kingston loved being in on the action…he was a total ham

Then we headed off to the pumpkin patch. Andrea’s belly sized in at $5 on the pumpkin measuring chart!

I had to break it to her that babies are much more expensive than pumpkins…but fortunately, they are also much cuter!

Abbotsford Maternity Photography | Marg

It’s always a special treat to have the opportunity to work with family. I love that I get to share in some of the most special occasions of their life, whether it be wedding pictures, family pictures, newborn pictures, or in this case, pregnancy photos for my younger sister Marg. I was pretty excited when I found out Marg and Jake were expecting their first child. I know they are going to be amazing parents, and that this little one is very very lucky to have these two as mom and dad. And, for my own personal reason, I love it when my kids are lucky enough to have a cousin close in age that lives nearby!
The other bonus of shooting family, is that I get to try out some new things and ask them to do some crazy stunts all in the name of art. Case in point…asking a 36 week pregnant Marg to lie down on the driveway of their apartment’s parking garage (I’m sure we had more than a few people looking out their windows wondering what in the world we were doing!) You know your sister loves and trusts you when she doesn’t even hesitate to say yes. Thanks for being such a great sport about it. I also happened to have Hudson along with me, so also included in my shoot, free of charge(!), was some advance parenting practice for Jake. I know he’s going to be a pro in no time with his own little bundle.
