Nolan may qualify for one of the most laid back babies ever. He snoozed his way through a good portion of the session and barely even peeped as I wrapped/unwrapped/moved/fussed/readjusted, etc. I’ve never seen a baby smile SO much in their sleep, he kept on giving us the most adorable grins and I was glad I was able to capture a few. The weather was a little iffy that day, but we were able to sneak outside near the end of the session to capture some outdoor shots, which are some of my favorites.

These three are such a beautiful family, and I had a hard time narrowing down my favorites. Thank you Rachel and Grant for being fabulous (and for being so laid back about the ‘sprinkling’ your carpet received!) and for sharing your sweet little guy with me. Enjoy your sneak peek!

Addison | Abbotsford Newborn Photographer

A few weeks after doing Andrea’s maternity photos, I got to meet sweet little Addison…isn’t she beautiful? I love her dark hair that’s just like her mama’s. I was so excited when I heard she was a girl, because I had bought the brown and pink blanket you see below in the spring, and all ‘my babies’ this year turned out to be boys. So I was pretty happy to finally put it to use.

And of course we had Kingston to keep us company. He thought my newborn beanbag setup was a perfect spot for a nap, and he kept on growling at my sheepskin…too funny! So of course I had to grab a shot of him too, he was too cute to resist.

One of my favorite things about being a photographer, is that I get to witness and capture some of the most important moments in people’s lives. There’s a quote that says that when a child is born, so is a mother (and a family). It’s so true! Seeing my little sister Margaret become a mom, and Marg & Jake become a family of three, has been such a joy. It makes me so happy to see both of them so gracefully grow into their new roles as parents. Marg has said many times, with a smile on her face, that being a mom is the best thing ever, and despite all the nausea of pregnancy, the pain of labor, and the discomfort of recovery he was most definitely worth it. I couldn’t agree more.

A color shot to start it off…but as you’ll see, lots of black and white pics from this session.

I just love the classic-ness (is that a word? LOL) and touch of moodiness it gives these images.

So so adorable! I love how his feet are curled up together.

I love this sign of newness, the belly button…a lingering bit of his connection in the womb

The adoring parents…I so remember this, spending hours gazing at my new little one to memorize every feature.

One of my faves I think.

Most definitely long skinny Vanderpol feet (just like me and my kiddos too)

I always know when we are done when this face shows up. He’s adorable even when he’s crying!
