Rachel Ludwig Photography | Abbotsford Family and Child Portrait Photographer bio picture

Welcome to Rachel Ludwig Photography!

Come on in, grab a cup of coffee (or in my case, that would be a non-fat, sugar-free vanilla, earl grey tea misto) and take a browse through my site. This is where I share images from recent sessions, post updates about Rachel Ludwig Photography, and sometimes I even sneak in a few pictures of my own family.

Want to know a little bit more about me? I've been married to my husband Tim for 11 years, and we have three loud, crazy and fun kids: Ethan (7), Arden (3) and Hudson (1). I also love to take pictures. I'm a lifestyle portrait and wedding photographer based in Abbotsford, BC and I photograph a little bit of everything, including babies, bellies, families, engagements, boudoir and weddings.

Oh....and don't be shy! You can leave a comment, pop me an email or use the contact form at any time. I promise I don't bite. :) I'd love to hear from you!

Amneeta | Abbotsford Prom Photography

This stunning young lady graduated from WJ Mouat and I was honored that her mom asked me to capture this special time in her life. Graduation is such a wonderful milestone and it’s such a great time to get some photos of your grad! I met up with Amneeta and her family at FishTrap Creek Park before her big prom night. I love that not only her immediate family came to join her for this special occasion, but also her extended family. They were all dressed to the nines and it was a great opportunity to get some family pictures. I loved seeing the closeness of this family…Amneeta is one lucky girl to be surrounded with so much love and support and she embarks on this exciting new phase of her life.

Not only is Amneeta gorgeous, she is also super sweet and smart! She has plans for something in the medical field, and her course load of sciences and maths (definitely not my strong point!) totally impressed me. Brains and beauty, she makes her family proud.

Amneeta, I hope you enjoy your sneak peek. You were an absolute pleasure to photograph! I hope your prom night was wonderful, and all the best as you head of to university in the fall. :)

Did I mention she was stunning? Love her sparkling dark eyes and that gorgeous hair. Not to mention the beautiful dress and the perfect accessories!

Tristan | Abbotsford Baby Photography

I sure am lucky to photograph some of the most adorable babies around. This handsome little guy came to visit me for some pictures, and I especially fell in love with his adorable cowlick (see the first image below)!

I’m always amazed at the difference just a few short weeks can make…due to needing to spend some extra days at the hospital (as you might see in some of the images, he has something called Amniotic Banding which affected one hand and one foot. Although it certainly didn’t affect his cuteness!), Tristan wasn’t able to come for his newborn session within the usual time frame of the first two weeks. At just over three weeks he was super strong and alert, but Daddy knew all the tricks and we even managed to get in some sleeping shots. Yay Tristan!

This family was so inspiring to me. It was amazing to watch the connection and love these three had and how in-tune they were with Tristan. The tattoos they had (Love is Always) were just so perfect and I love that we were able to incorporate them into the images and capture their love in this session. Such a lovely young family and Tristan is one lucky guy to have these two as parents!

Heather and Vincent…enjoy your sneak peek!

Abbotsford Baby PhotographyAnd just a reminder…if you aren’t already a member of my Facebook Page, come on over! I’ve been posting a few images there as I’m editing…a pre-sneak-peek if you will.  :) Sometimes these images will also make it here on the blog, sometimes not. As always, feel free to leave a comment. I love hearing from you.

Alistair | White Rock Newborn Photographer

Well, I admit I might be a teensy bit biased, but this little guy is one very adorable and handsome little guy. He had the most perfect skin and hair, was super bendy and slept pretty much the entire time, and I finally got the eyelash shots I’ve been wanting to get ever since I bought my macro lens. :) Add into the mix two very easy-going and laid-back first time parents, and it was the perfect recipe for an amazing session. Oh, and they spoiled me with some delicious sushi for lunch. Yum! Thank you Al, Meg and Alistair!!

Al & Meg live right on the strip in White Rock, and have a gorgeous view of the ocean. They also happen to have this cute little attic-like space where their bedroom is that had super-duper perfect light. Perfect light makes my heart pitter patter. So do cute little babies. Have I mentioned that I love my job? :)

Did I mention he was cute? And had some really really cute facial expressions? Check out the smile, and the eye scrunch. Pure adorableness!

I heart cozy family shots. Such a cute little family of three.

Congrats again Al & Meg. I loved spending this time with you and capturing this amazing time in your lives. So excited to have a new little nephew and can’t wait to snuggle him again soon!

Mallory Family | Chilliwack Family Portraits

This isn’t the first time I’ve photographed this fabulous family, I think this was the 3rd time I’ve had them in front of my camera…you can see them back in 2008 here. Isn’t it crazy how much the ‘little girls’ (and ok, they aren’t girls anymore but beautiful young ladies!) have grown up in just a few short years? Photos are such a powerful way to freeze a moment in time and it’s such a great way to see your family grow and change throughout the years!

Kim is an amazing photographer, and she has been a real mentor and friend to me over the years. I think we met before I was pregnant with Arden, which would be 6ish years ago. Time fles! One of these days I’m going to get in front of her camera again…I can’t wait!

After months and months and months of rain (all the locals are nodding their head as they read this!), we had a super warm and sunshiny day a few weeks ago (one of the only ones in months, I’m convinced). While I love sun, it did make for a few of the locations we had in mind not suitable, but in the end we found a few perfect spots. We started out at the Great Blue Heron Nature Reserve, and then headed out to ‘the country’. :)

Thank you Clarke, Kim, Heather, Nicole and Jenna for a fun afternoon! I am thrilled with the pictures (and trust me, this is just a very small sampling of the many images we captured! It was SO hard to decide which ones to share…). I can’t wait for you to see the rest.

Meg | White Rock Maternity Photography

These pictures almost didn’t happen…but just a few days before Alistair made a not-entirely-surprising early entrance, we had Tim’s family over for Easter dinner. It was pouring rain, getting dark outside and there was a disastrous Canucks hockey game on TV that was making everyone grumpy. But Meg was game to go outside for a few minutes and it was so worth it. We even managed to tear Al away from the game for a few minutes. So glad we were able to make these happen!

At the end of your pregnancy, when you are feeling huge and tired and kind of gross (which Meg most certainly didn’t…she looked amazing as you can see below! but I know she felt that way), the last think you want is pictures. but TRUST ME. it’s worth it (plus I have more than a few tricks up my sleeve to make you look extra beautiful. Just ask my clients and they’ll tell you!). Because once that little one makes his or her appearance you will quickly forget all the aches and pains of pregnancy, and you will probably miss the amazing feeling of little kicks and squirms. The beautiful miracle of pregnancy can quickly vanish with the even more awe inspiring miracle of a brand new baby. Some nights at 3AM, you might even kind of wish you could put that little one who won’t stop crying back into your tummy. haha. I’m only kind of kidding :) But, to have even a few pictures to document this special time is pretty cool and a decision you won’t regret.

I added a little vintage-loving to these images. They suited the rainy, green, west-coast feel of our backyard and it definitely fits Al & Meg’s personalities too.

And a final little note….I get a lot of visitors to this blog. Love that people stop by and check out my little corner of the web. Makes me feel warm and mushy inside. :) Whether you’re a first time visitor, a client, family, friend, etc.  I’d love to hear from you. Comments make my day! Feel free to leave a comment here or come visit me at the Rachel Ludwig Photography Facebook Page and leave a comment there!

Kostelyk Family | Abbotsford Spring Family Photos

When we did Eden’s newborn session, big brother Liam was sick, so we waited a few weeks so that we could get some family shots. While it turned out to be a beautiful and sunny afternoon, it was also cold. brrr! Fortunately even with the cold and rainy weather we’ve been having, there have still been some lovely cherry blossoms. My very favorite and it wouldn’t quite feel like spring if I didn’t get to do at least one photo session with cherry blossoms. Now if only there were cherry trees in abandoned fields, that would be the best! Instead, we headed to city hall where they have lots of cherry trees and it turned out to be the perfect location.

You should also check out my sister’s blog. She is super crafty and talented and has shared some of the great projects she’s done on her blog. Check it out! Below you can see a quilt she made for Eden in a few of the pics. I love the colors!

Anyways, onto some pictures of one totally adorable family of four :)
