This is my adorable nephew Pierce! I may be a teensy bit biased, but I think he’s terribly cute. It’s been fun to have a little baby around to snuggle again.

We are so happy for you Debby & Peter. It’s been fun watching you fall in love with your little guy and relish being parents. It brings me back to when Ethan was born almost 8 years ago. Almost makes me wish I could time-travel and revisit that time in our lives again (maybe minus the lack of sleep though!). Navigating the waters of parenthood for the first time and experiencing a whole new world through the eyes of your child is so amazing. Enjoy the journey…they grow up so fast.

Anyways, on to the pictures. I had a hard time choosing my favorites, he is just so darn cute…

This is my beautiful and sweet sister-in-law Debby, who is expecting her first baby, and tomorrow is the big day for their little one’s arrival! We can’t wait to meet her and Peter’s little bundle of joy. This baby is going to be the first local cousin from the Ludwig side for my kids…so fun!

We met up at Trethewey House, a beautiful historical home here in Abbotsford, right by Mill Lake Park. We had beautiful sunny weather and a great afternoon.I had so many favorites, I had a hard time picking which ones to share! Debby is super photogenic and made my job easy. Peter on the other end…um…provided some great comedic relief. (Just kidding, Peter. haha!)

Another fave…the ones peeking through the dried flowers, with just a teeny bit of vintage lovin’.

And notice that little wooden building? An adorable outhouse for two.

And this big old tree was just too awesome to pass up. I love creating images that are not only a photograph, but art as well.

These are the type of images that are perfect for big wall art!

Melissa has been a long time client of mine, and I was so excited to hear that she and Kevin are expecting! I know it’s been quite the journey to get to this point, and I always think it makes the whole miracle of pregnancy extra-special. The big siblings are super excited too, and I’m sure mom and dad will have lots of help with little Cohen when he arrives.

Melissa had one request for the session, which was the heart on the belly…I was more than happy to oblige! We also headed out to a fun industrial area nearby, it’s such a versatile location and works perfectly, especially at this time of year when greenery is limited.

A big congratulations to the happy couple who recently got engaged! Congrats you two!

This is always the point when the guys start to look at me funny. You want us to do what?!? Thanks for being game for my crazy ideas

Addison | Abbotsford Newborn Photographer

A few weeks after doing Andrea’s maternity photos, I got to meet sweet little Addison…isn’t she beautiful? I love her dark hair that’s just like her mama’s. I was so excited when I heard she was a girl, because I had bought the brown and pink blanket you see below in the spring, and all ‘my babies’ this year turned out to be boys. So I was pretty happy to finally put it to use.

And of course we had Kingston to keep us company. He thought my newborn beanbag setup was a perfect spot for a nap, and he kept on growling at my sheepskin…too funny! So of course I had to grab a shot of him too, he was too cute to resist.

I love it when I am asked to photograph a family again, it’s always great to catch up and to see how ‘my babies’ have grown! I photographed Evan when he was just an teeny-tiny newborn, and he’s now two!

He’s a very typical two-year-old boy and wasn’t super interested in me or my camera (this is totally normal! I know lots of parents stress out about this during a session, but it’s totally OK and we still get lots of great shots). He may not have been interested in my camera or bribes such as lollipops, but he was most certainly interested in his car, the swings and slides, and running! He gave us quite the work out, but it was definitely worth it. One of my goals with my photography is to capture personalities, especially with kids, as they are constantly changing and growing up on us! I love that we captured Evan and what he’s all about at age two (and just for fun: see how many pictures you can spot his car in!)

Isn’t he positively adorable? Those beautiful brown eyes of his just melt me. Thank you Sarb and Lucky for such a great session…I’ll be in touch soon with the rest of your images. Enjoy your sneak peek!

Gurash Family | Cloverdale Family Photographer

We had some amazing weather for an afternoon family session with the Gurash family, who came all the way from Cloverdale for a session at the Westminster Abbey in Mission. Nicole had mentioned prior to her session that fall colors were really an important aspect to her for their session, so I was a little worried when we had some typical BC fall weather the week before, and when I showed up and the beautiful red ivy wall I had wanted to use had already lost it’s leaves! Fortunately, there was still a lot of beautiful fall color on the trees and on the ground that we were able to incorporate into their images. Fall is such a beautiful time of year for family pictures, especially when the weather cooperates as well as it did on this day.

This family has three handsome and rambunctious boys, who totally knew how to turn on the charm for the camera. You know what they say about boys and being made of snips and snails and puppy dog tails, right? It’s so true. Boys are fun and I just can’t resist capturing that mischievous twinkle in their eyes! Even though I called Sterling, the middle one, Spencer. The entire session. eeek! I do promise that prior to having kids I had a really really good memory for things like names and phone numbers. Sorry Spencer! I mean Sterling. I hope you have forgiven me.

Now on to some pictures…it’s always hard to narrow down my favorites for blog posts. It’s kind of like having to pick a favorite child!:

Fish Trap Creek is a beautiful park near my home, and for some reason I don’t shoot there very often. So I was super excited when Tanya suggested we use this for their family shoot. The fall colors were absolutely perfect, and we couldn’t have asked for better weather. I also think that I have never laughed so hard as I did during this session. These four were constantly cracking up, and were so much fun!

I thought it was so sweet that Antoinette’s kids got a photo session for her graduation present. What a great gift to celebrate such a special occasion! I should also mention that Tanya had broken her foot just a few weeks beforehand, and she very gamely trecked all over the park to get the perfect shots. Thanks for being such a trooper Tanya, and a big thank you to all of you for such a fun morning!

The last few days have been intense, and a roller-coaster of emotions for all of us as we do our best to support Katy. Some of you may remember my sister-in-law Katy, from her wedding in April of this year…and many of my clients have gotten albums that have been assembled by her or orders that have been packaged by her. I don’t normally share a lot of personal stuff here on this blog, but she needs lots of prayers and support right now. She’s been suffering from colitis for the past year or so, and the last few months have been extremely challenging. She’s been in the hospital for three weeks as the doctors have tried different treatments and medications, but unfortunately these efforts have met with little success. So today she will be having surgery. Needless to say, we are all terribly worried, and have been praying non-stop.

Please say some prayers for her, and keep her and her husband Anthony in your thoughts today. Specifically that the surgery goes well and that recovery goes smoothly so she can feel better and go home soon. And any encouraging messages that you might want to leave here I am sure will be greatly appreciated by Katy. Thank you!

Andrea | Abbotsford Maternity Photographer

One of the things I love about photography, is that it has allowed me to meet some pretty amazing people. Andrea and I connected over email, and as we went through all the pre-session stuff, we found out that we have a lot in common. Especially our love of reading, and we discovered that we have read and enjoyed many of the same books. When Andie (as her family and friends call her) agreed that the pumpkin patch would be a great place for some of her pictures, I was looking forward to meeting her and her husband even more! I always love it when clients are up for something a bit different.

We started the session at their beautiful home. Andrea has an amazing eye for design, and has created a cozy and stylish home that had me drooling! We discovered we also had a mutual love for interior design (although she’s much better at the actual execution part of it all…I just plan, and dream and never actually do the decorating. LOL). Well, you can see for yourself some of their gorgeous home below:

Meet their adorable dog Kingston (who is going to be in for some changes when baby makes his/her arrival!).

He’s the tiniest dog I’ve ever met…a little Yorkie weighing in under 3lbs if I remember correctly

Andrea looked positively amazing. 37ish weeks and glowing! What a beautiful mama.

Kingston loved being in on the action…he was a total ham

Then we headed off to the pumpkin patch. Andrea’s belly sized in at $5 on the pumpkin measuring chart!

I had to break it to her that babies are much more expensive than pumpkins…but fortunately, they are also much cuter!
