Growing

I can’t believe that it’s been just over a month since my sweet baby boy made his appearance…time feels like it’s slipping by so incredibly fast right now, I wish I could pause life right now (or have the ability to rewind back to these days two years from now when we’re in the midst of the wonderful twos! LOL). I’ve been busy trying to enjoy every moment and taking advantage of lots of cuddling time with my little guy. Or as the case may be, not so little. Last week at 4 weeks old he was 11lbs 5oz!

Seeing as I’ve had a few requests, especially since I shared some pictures of another baby, I thought I should post some of Hudson too. :)

Four days old:

Six days old…and he was definitely smiling for me. As soon as I would start talking to and kissing him he’d start grinning. Love that I was able to get a few shots in, and catch his dimple too:

Nine days old:

I love bellybuttons (and a sneak peek at a new backdrop!) :)

2 1/2 weeks old (Karin…thanks for the use of your adorable baby wrap!):

Showing off some muscles :)

By baby standards he’s not super short…but he most definitely falls into the sweet category, especially when he’s sleeping!:

3 1/2 weeks old:

Four weeks old, and definitely more and more alert. He’s starting to track items and make eye contact. And as of Saturday, he’s officially doing real smiles!

Sumas Newborn | Evan

Alyssa has become a good friend of mine over the last several months, especially after she came along as my second shooter for Marta & Szymon’s wedding in Tofino. We also had babies (the third for both of us) just a couple months apart, so when I went to visit her after the birth of Evan, I grabbed a few photos for her. I know how nice it is as a photographer to be on the other side of the camera for a change, so I made sure to grab some images of her with her newest little guy too.

Alyssa came to visit me last week, and I couldn’t believe how much Evan has grown already! It’s crazy how much of a difference two months makes when babies are this young. I know in a year you’ll barely even be able to tell that there is an age gap between them. Definitely a reminder for me how of quickly it goes and to remember to try enjoy every moment (even the middle of the night ones!).

Evan is one of the first babies I’ve had who didn’t completely fall in love with my beanbag/heating pad newborn set-up. Fortunately we still managed to get some sleeping pictures in:

I love the teeny bit of peely skin here…a testament to newborn-ness :)

Posing already…can you tell he has a photog mommy? :)

Alyssa is totally gorgeous…can you believe how amazing she looks just two weeks after having a baby?:

I love baby feet. love love love them.

And my very favorite shot of the day…beautiful mama (check out her killer lashes!) and adorable baby:

Mikayla

I headed out to North Vancouver a few weeks ago for a newborn session for Mikayla…you may remember her mom Delores’s maternity session. This little baby has got to be one of the most beautiful little babies ever, not to mention that she was so good during the photo session too. I was almost going to try slip her into my camera bag when I went home, but I think that Delores and Ken might’ve noticed. LOL. It sure does make me antsy for my own baby’s arrival in less than two months (now I am just hoping that I have a baby who is as well behaved!).

I know Delores is anxiously waiting to see these, so here are a few favorites from their newborn session.

I think I did a little squeal when I saw the fabulous bedding Delores had on their bed, so perfect for a backdrop.

Sigh. Isn’t she gorgeous? I love all the hair. And those polka dots are positively yummy!

Almost a smile :)

I adore little footsies…

Such a beautiful family!

And when I heard Delores had made this blanket, I knew we had had to use it! The colors and patterns were perfect.

She slept almost the entire time…such a good little girl:

I think this is my favorite family picture…I just love how proud Ken looks, and seeing a happy mama totally melts me :)

Desmond

At 11 days old Desmond was still pretty brand-new and sooooo cute! He looks like the spitting image of his dad I think. I think he was my easiest baby yet, and slept through a good portion of the shoot while we moved him around and repositioned him several times. He loved my bean bag chair/heating pad combo, and even gave me a few smiles (see below).

I’ve had a few outdoor baby shots in mind for a while, and after Deanne’s Maternity Session, I knew exactly what I wanted to do. Here are a few favorites from their session:

I did mention the smiles, right? And check out that dimple….positively adorable :)

He started frowning, and I figured it was time to give him a bit of a break….phew! It was good timing, because he proceeded to fill his diaper and more…and we were able to completely avoid getting the blankets and backdrops covered (trust me, this is rare and why my stuff gets a good washing after every session!). Even when frowning he’s pretty darn cute though:

The adorable big sister Ava:

The gorgeous foliage in their backyard worked perfectly for these basket shots:

The heavily bribed sibling shot. I’m all about bribery, and it almost always works! :)

Beautiful mama…doesn’t she look amazing and less than two weeks after he was born?

And with dad…I am a sucker for a shot with dad’s big strong hands and a baby’s tiny head:

Keiran

Remember Carmen’s Maternity Session? Well here’s her brand new baby boy Keiran, who was making her adorable little bump. :) Carmen was wanting pictures primarily of herself and Keiran…being a photographer herself she’s been busy snapping hundreds (or most likely thousands!) of photos of her little man, but of course it’s always hard to get pics of yourself in front of the camera when you’re the photographer. So glad I was able to capture some of these special moments for her.

Carmen has been waiting super patiently for these pics, as being pregnant recently herself, she knows all about yucky morning sickness and pregnancy exhaustion. Thank you so much for being patient Carmen…enjoy your mini sneak peek! :)

I love capturing this snuggly newborn stage…there truly is nothing better than a baby sleeping on your chest.
