Abbotsford Engagement Session | Katy & Anthony

I know Katy is anxiously waiting to see some images from their engagement session, and since Hudson has been sleeping so nicely for me during the day, I figured I’d better post a few pictures for them!

Katy is Tim’s youngest sister, and she just happens to be getting married to Anthony, who is such a fabulous guy. Katy was a huge help this summer and did some babysitting so I could get work done. She may never have kids after dealing with my two rugrats (LOL!) but my kids absolutely love her. Arden calls her “T” and screams her version of Katy’s name excitedly whenever she sees her. Anthony completely wowed Ethan with a ‘magic’ trick involving a dish-towel and toothpick…so he’s officially cool in Ethan’s eyes now. Do aunts and uncles get much cooler than that? We’re looking forward to their wedding next April!

On a different note, I still have some more pictures to share from Darlene & Larry’s wedding and of course some more baby Hudson pictures too. A big thank you to all my clients who have been so patient with me during the last few weeks of my pregnancy and now that Hudson’s here.

Here are some of my faves from Katy and Anthony’s session. I’ve been eying this location which happens to be right near by house. It had a bit of everything all in one spot, which was so handy for my 9-month pregnant self (less walking!!). I don’t know why I hadn’t gone their before…I guess I was saving it just for them :)

When I told them to head out into the field, Anthony took matters into his own hands when Katy got worried about what might be hiding under all that grass :)

One of my faves:

How perfect was this location? I love all the color and texture:

We were in my truck and ready to leave when I spotted this sign…I’m so happy we stopped!:

Darlene & Larry

A very quick sneak peek for Darlene & Larry before I head out galavanting for the long weekend. :) We met up for their engagement session last week in Crescent Beach. I love the area there, and there were so many great shooting locations! We met up mid-evening so we had some lovely sunset light to work with…hmmm, I love the gorgeous warm glow it gives the images.

Darlene and I went to school together for a good portion of our school years, and it’s so neat to see her happy and in love with a wonderful guy! I can’t wait to shoot their wedding in September (at 8 1/2 months pregnant!).

Here’s just a few from the shoot, I hope to have some more to share next week:

I love capturing shots like this…just so real.

There’s this great ice-cream shop there that my kids insist on going to every time we visit the beach…I managed to persuade these two to get a cone as well. Dar put the pressure on Larry by asking him to pick out a flavor for her…I think he got the right one! :)

A little bit of steaminess:

And one of my favorites…this was just as the sun was setting. I added a bit of vintage lovin’ to the image:

Tricia & Bryan Part Two

As the last sneak peek was just a mini one, I thought I’d share a few more from Tricia and Bryan’s e-session. We headed out to one of my favorite freeway underpasses where they have this fabulous graffiti, and I was surprised to see that several homeless people had moved in with their tents since I’d last been there. Along with these people came all their possessions and lots of garbage…but we were still able to get some amazing shots despite the mess. And along with the new residents came some great new graffiti, so that was an unexpected bonus.

Tricia and Bryan like tattoos and rock ‘n roll, and we were looking for a bit of a location that represented that. This location was perfect for what they wanted, and I love how the images turned out, I hope they do too! I can’t wait to shoot their wedding at Harrison Hot Springs in August…I know it’s going to be fabulous!

Here’s a few more favorites. Isn’t the graffiti fabulous?:

Yes…there was lots of kissing :)

I love all the lush greenery here:

Tricia & Bryan

This is just a mini sneak peek to hold Tricia over until we return from vacation, as I know she is dying to see the images from their engagement session…We had such an amazing session, definitely one of the more steamy ones I’ve had, and the resulting images are smokin’! Not to mention that Bryan had me cracking up too. I can’t wait for their wedding in August. I’ll share more from their session when I return from vacation.

**** I will not have access to email or internet while we are away (June 28th - July 5th), but I will do my best to promptly respond to all emails after we return.****

And with that, I’m outta here!

Jen & Andrew and boys

I met Jen several years back through scrapbooking at the very first ‘crop’ I attended, which was probably five years ago (has it really been that long??) and I remember being in awe of her scrapbook pages, and the amazing details she included (especially the sewing on her pages!). We kind of lost touch over the years, and then Jen and I recently met again through Facebook, and I was thrilled to hear that she had met a wonderful man and had gotten engaged.

I was thrilled when Jen asked me to do an engagement/family session. It was a pleasure to spend an afternoon together, and seeing this new family of four being together just made me so very happy. Nothing quite like witnessing the happy end to a story, right? A big congrats to all four of you on this exciting new phase in your life!

One of my favorite parts about this session is that they are all avid photographers and all four of them have their own cameras. And the fact that they are die-hard Canon owners like me was icing on the cake. I tell you, their camera bag almost rivaled my own! :)

Jen and her handsome dudes (Mikah was still warming up to me after a nap in the car…I love how he’s peeking at my somewhat suspiciously here!)

Feisal is a pro with his camera! He was using all sorts of different angles, and loved posing everyone. A boy after my own heart :)

Andrew brought his camera along too, and we had fun incorporating the paparazzi into the session :) ha. Just kidding!

Jen has the BEST smile/laugh. I was able to capture a few shots with it, and they are some of my faves from the session. I can’t help but smile just looking at this!

Feisal knew exactly what he wanted from this shot (told ya he was a pro!)

Andrew knows all the tricks to get Jen grinning from ear to ear…he’s definitely a keeper! :)

Lynette & Greg

I loved it when I got an email from Lynette about potentially shooting their wedding, because not only is she getting married on my anniversary (#10! I can’t believe it’s been that long), she also happens to be related to me. I don’t know the correct term for how we are related, but she’s the daughter of my cousin….for all you genealogists out there…does that make her my second cousin? Or my first cousin once removed?

In any case, I’m looking forward to their big day in June, the lucky 13th. Not only is June 13th a fabulous day, but 13 also happens to be my lucky number. And I know I’ll never forget their anniversary (that is, as long as I don’t forget mine! haha)

Despite a bit of a chilly day, we had a lot of fun on this session, and I was so excited when I saw Lynette had brought some sexy red shoes along. I almost did a little happy dance right there. I knew it was going to be a fabulous shoot as soon as I saw those :)

I’ve been dying to do a shot like this for a while. I’ve seen it out there by some fabulous photogs, and was excited when we nailed it in just 2 or 3 shots!

Marta & Szymon

This engagement session was soooo incredible. From getting to spend time with two lovely, genuine, and truly kind people, three beautiful locations that made me fall in love all over again with this amazing part of the world we live in, and wonderful weather with the most beautiful sunshine..I couldn’t have asked for a much better way to spend an afternoon ‘working’. This is why I love what I get to do for a job!

I had over 750 (!) images to edit, and it was so hard to narrow them down, and even harder to pick some to post on the blog…these two were super photogenic, and I don’t think either of them could take a bad picture!

I’m really looking forward to their wedding in April in Tofino, I know it’s going to be amazing.

Thanks again for a wonderful afternoon Marta and Szymon, I look forward to seeing you in Tofino on your big day!

Anyone recognize this location? North Vancouver is perfect for some urban shots.

I’ve been playing with texture a bit (as you will notice on a few images from this session), and I just love the depth and detail it adds to these photos.

Be sure to click on all the horizontal images, and especially the storyboards, to see them bigger. The sun was just amazing, and despite it being mid-January, it was nice and toasty warm outside.

The trees here were just incredible, and I love how the light filtered through them so perfectly.

I almost *did* kiss the ground (see image below to get the inside joke! :) ) we hiked on (literally, we were little mountain goats scampering over the hills at Whytecliff Park), and I almost biffed it a few times with my camera in hand. Fortunately we all escaped unscathed and with some great images to show for it. :)

I think this may be my very favorite of the session. I can’t decide if I like it in color:

or black and white better. What is your favorite?

And one more to share, just because I was having fun trying a few new things and Marta and Szymon were such good sports for all my different requests :)

Allard & Meg’s Mini-Engagement Session

This was a spur of the moment shoot when Tim’s brother and his new fiance announnced their engagement to the family. We are super excited for them and this new chapter in their lives, but are a little sad that they are going to be moving cross-country to begin their married life. They are planning on getting married a day after Debby and Peter in August…It’s going to be a fun and busy summer with three family weddings!

In addition to being the official photographer for Allard and Meg’s wedding, I’ll also be doing an urban engagement shoot in the next month or two. I’m looking forward to both of these events and will be posting them here on this blog.

Debby & Peter’s Engagement Session

Debby is my husband’s sister and I was really looking forward to doing an engagement session with her and her fiance. They were real troopers as we went traipsing around Abbotsford to several different locations. These two are super lovey-dovey and it certainly wasn’t hard to have them show their affection, as you can see. :) Although I won’t be the official wedding photographer, I’m sure I’ll be snapping some shots at their wedding in August.

You can see a slideshow of this session here.
