Growing

I can’t believe that it’s been just over a month since my sweet baby boy made his appearance…time feels like it’s slipping by so incredibly fast right now, I wish I could pause life right now (or have the ability to rewind back to these days two years from now when we’re in the midst of the wonderful twos! LOL). I’ve been busy trying to enjoy every moment and taking advantage of lots of cuddling time with my little guy. Or as the case may be, not so little. Last week at 4 weeks old he was 11lbs 5oz!

Seeing as I’ve had a few requests, especially since I shared some pictures of another baby, I thought I should post some of Hudson too. :)

Four days old:

Six days old…and he was definitely smiling for me. As soon as I would start talking to and kissing him he’d start grinning. Love that I was able to get a few shots in, and catch his dimple too:

Nine days old:

By baby standards he’s not super short…but he most definitely falls into the sweet category, especially when he’s sleeping!:

3 1/2 weeks old:

Four weeks old, and definitely more and more alert. He’s starting to track items and make eye contact. And as of Saturday, he’s officially doing real smiles!

Sumas Newborn | Evan

Alyssa has become a good friend of mine over the last several months, especially after she came along as my second shooter for Marta & Szymon’s wedding in Tofino. We also had babies (the third for both of us) just a couple months apart, so when I went to visit her after the birth of Evan, I grabbed a few photos for her. I know how nice it is as a photographer to be on the other side of the camera for a change, so I made sure to grab some images of her with her newest little guy too.

Alyssa came to visit me last week, and I couldn’t believe how much Evan has grown already! It’s crazy how much of a difference two months makes when babies are this young. I know in a year you’ll barely even be able to tell that there is an age gap between them. Definitely a reminder for me how of quickly it goes and to remember to try enjoy every moment (even the middle of the night ones!).

Evan is one of the first babies I’ve had who didn’t completely fall in love with my beanbag/heating pad newborn set-up. Fortunately we still managed to get some sleeping pictures in:

I love the teeny bit of peely skin here…a testament to newborn-ness :)

I love this one….the boys’ room is a jungle theme, and they each had their own special stuffy (a lion and an elephant). It will be neat to see as they grow…right now the animals are almost as big as them! :)

Ryan & Evan

My very first twins! These darling little boys were born 5 weeks early, and after less than 3 weeks in the hospital, were able to go home. They’re so so very tiny! When these pictures were taken, they were both under six pounds, almost a pound up from their birth weights. If I remember correctly that is. I know one of the boys is bigger than the other, but as I told their mom and dad, I knew I was going to forget who’s who!

Just wanted to give a quick sneak peek so I thought I’d share my favorite image so far. I know Danielle and Matt are looking forward to seeing these. More images coming soon.

Aren’t they positively adorable?? I tell you, they gave me some serious baby fever. :)

Amryn

This past weekend I was honored to be asked to do a PhotoSession for a very special family who is going through what no family should have to go through. It breaks my heart even more to know that this is their second journey down this road. This beautiful little girl, like her sister Rachel who passed away 4 years ago, has a very rare and incurable disease called Mitochondrial DNA Depletion Syndrome. It’s hard to imagine that inside her tiny body isn’t working as it should, but yet on the outside she looks so perfect. The feeding tube is the only visible sign that something is wrong.

It was so humbling to witness the love that this family is showering on Amryn. Her two older sisters Robyn and Lydia are proud as punch about her, and I heard many exclamations of happiness starting with “my baby sister”. Nick and Lisa have such incredible faith in God and a love for each other and their family that shines so strong and clear. Amryn and her sisters are sure lucky to have these two as parents. This little girl, along with her family, has touched my heart (and so many others) in a very powerful way.

Madeleine

I thought it was so neat when I got a call from this sweet little girl’s uncle wanting to give his sister a PhotoSession for a baby gift. How cool is that? Madeleine is now two months old and is such an incredibly beautiful little girl, full of smiles and giggles (especially for her mama!), and she was super good throughout the shoot and all the different poses/setups we did.

I truly enjoyed this shoot…Allison and I had lots of fun talking babies, and I got some great decorating ideas from their beautiful home! Mike was able to pop home to see his girls, and of course we squeezed in a few pictures with him too. It was such a pleasure to see this lovely family interacting and enjoying each other’s company. It really brought me back to my early days as a parent, such a special time in one’s life!

Evan

I had the pleasure of photographing this handsome little guy last week. I just melted when I saw his gorgeous chocolate brown eyes and beautiful hair. He was so alert for the first portion of the shoot, and he was watching my camera quite closely…it was adorable!

Being the first child for Sarb and Lucky, as well as the first grandchild for both sets of grandparents, Evan is one very lucky (no pun intended!) boy indeed. Some of the extended family joined us for the shoot, and I really enjoyed being able to take some generational photos for them in addition to the newborn shots.

Allison

Remember Sue’s Maternity Session? Well check out their new baby girl! Yes, a girl! After two boys, they were pretty excited when their baby made her grand entrance and she was a girl. They are already innundated with lots of lovely pink, just as it should be with a new princess in the house!

As a photographer, they also gave me a very special first in my career…photographing Allison’s birth. I’m so very thankful to Sue & Ken for allowing me to take these special pictures and to share in this private and personal time. It was such an incredible experience! Not only to witness the birth, but to share in their joy and excitement (ok, and a little pain too…although Sue is one very tough cookie!) during the labor and arrival of their beautiful little girl. I had tears of joy…witnessing their happiness and joy was such an amazing thing. Thank you again, to both of you.

Obviously these pictures are very personal and I won’t be sharing them here, but if anyone is interested in birth photography, please send me an email and I’d be more than happy to give you some more information.

Olivia

October 3, 2007 – 8:24 am

I was so excited to hear of the happy and safe arrival of the oh so beautiful and adorable Olivia. Yesterday Marietta, Jake, Olivia and I hung out and took pictures in between feedings and snuggles. These new parents are so laid back and easy-going, Miss Olivia is one lucky little girl!

I gotta tell you though, being in close proximity to a sweet little one like her sure has my baby fever in full gear! There’s nothing quite so perfect and precious as a brand new baby :)

As I was going through the pictures, I really saw a resemblance to Marietta, especially in this one:

The weather has been really rainy here the last few days….so I really loved how the raindrops were captured on the window here. I wonder, if Olivia would have memories of these first few days, would she remember fondly the pitter-pattering of rain on the roof as they were all cozy and snug inside?
