This sweet little guy decided to make his appearance six weeks early, and had to spend some time in the hospital before he came home. Thankfully he is doing wonderfully; he’s growing well and doing all those things newborns are supposed to do. As a result of his early arrival, me being out of the country for two weeks, and Christmas, Aidan was almost 2 months old by the time we could do his newborn session. The good thing with preemies, is that they are still technically newborns, which meant that he performed fabulously and we were able to get a wonderful variety of sleeping and awake shots. Yay Aiden! You were fabulous!

I heart that shot where’s he’s smiling at his daddy. One of the benefits of an older baby is ‘real’ smiles!

This adorable and tiny little guy happens to be our newest nephew! So happy for Peter & Debby with the arrival of Grayson Edward, a little brother to Pierce. Debby & Peter are no strangers to this blog, and first appeared back when they were engaged in 2007. Just over four years later these two have expanded to four, and we couldn’t be happier for them! Hard to believe that it was less than two years ago that I was photographing Pierce as a baby…he’s grown up so much since then and now is a busy and happy toddler who is constantly on the go! I have a feeling these two boys are going to be keeping their parents on their toes

I hope that Grayson has been letting you guys get some sleep, and looking forward to seeing him (and all of you!) again soon…word on the streets is that he’s been busy packing on the pounds. Can’t wait to give his chub some snuggles

** One small note…I increased the image sizes slightly. Would love some feedback on that! Let me know if you think the images are too big, just right or could be even bigger? Thanks!

This kid is going to have some crazy hair! Double crowns on the top and a swirl/cowlick on the front.

I just loved the adorable ‘little brother’ onesie. so cute!

And that middle image…just had to include it! Pierce’s expressions just cracks me up.

It’s far from perfect technically, but it sure sums up life with two little ones, doesn’t it?

Isabella | Mission Newborn Photos

Brenda + Glen = adorable Isabella! She was sweet as could be, and even at 3 weeks old we were able to sneak in a few sleeping shots in between lots of super cute and adorable pictures. We had a beautifully warm and sunny day and the most perfect un-mown lawn…I just couldn’t resist heading outdoors. I so wish I could do newborn sessions outside all year! Even with the dog-poop incident #2. Glen really seems to be a magnet for these kind of things! Fortunately no mosquitoes this time around though. Phew!

One of my favorite parts of being a photographer is being able to capture the connections between people. There is something amazing when people let down their guards and open themselves up to me and my camera. Thank you Brenda and Glen for being yourselves, and allowing me to capture this very special time in your life. I loved seeing how smitten you both were with your sweet little girl.

Tristan | Abbotsford Baby Photography

I sure am lucky to photograph some of the most adorable babies around. This handsome little guy came to visit me for some pictures, and I especially fell in love with his adorable cowlick (see the first image below)!

I’m always amazed at the difference just a few short weeks can make…due to needing to spend some extra days at the hospital (as you might see in some of the images, he has something called Amniotic Banding which affected one hand and one foot. Although it certainly didn’t affect his cuteness!), Tristan wasn’t able to come for his newborn session within the usual time frame of the first two weeks. At just over three weeks he was super strong and alert, but Daddy knew all the tricks and we even managed to get in some sleeping shots. Yay Tristan!

This family was so inspiring to me. It was amazing to watch the connection and love these three had and how in-tune they were with Tristan. The tattoos they had (Love is Always) were just so perfect and I love that we were able to incorporate them into the images and capture their love in this session. Such a lovely young family and Tristan is one lucky guy to have these two as parents!

Well, I admit I might be a teensy bit biased, but this little guy is one very adorable and handsome little guy. He had the most perfect skin and hair, was super bendy and slept pretty much the entire time, and I finally got the eyelash shots I’ve been wanting to get ever since I bought my macro lens. Add into the mix two very easy-going and laid-back first time parents, and it was the perfect recipe for an amazing session. Oh, and they spoiled me with some delicious sushi for lunch. Yum! Thank you Al, Meg and Alistair!!

Al & Meg live right on the strip in White Rock, and have a gorgeous view of the ocean. They also happen to have this cute little attic-like space where their bedroom is that had super-duper perfect light. Perfect light makes my heart pitter patter. So do cute little babies. Have I mentioned that I love my job?

Did I mention he was cute? And had some really really cute facial expressions? Check out the smile, and the eye scrunch. Pure adorableness!

Congrats again Al & Meg. I loved spending this time with you and capturing this amazing time in your lives. So excited to have a new little nephew and can’t wait to snuggle him again soon!

When we did Eden’s newborn session, big brother Liam was sick, so we waited a few weeks so that we could get some family shots. While it turned out to be a beautiful and sunny afternoon, it was also cold. brrr! Fortunately even with the cold and rainy weather we’ve been having, there have still been some lovely cherry blossoms. My very favorite and it wouldn’t quite feel like spring if I didn’t get to do at least one photo session with cherry blossoms. Now if only there were cherry trees in abandoned fields, that would be the best! Instead, we headed to city hall where they have lots of cherry trees and it turned out to be the perfect location.

These two adorable babies happen to be cousins that live about as far apart as it’s possible in Canada. One adorable little girl with a head full of beautiful hair lives here on the west coast, while the other one, a handsome little boy with the cutest little frown is from the Maritimes. However, they managed to meet each other before they hit three months old…which is no small feat when it involves cross-country travel with a baby under 3 months old! One very brave mama, that’s for sure. I loved that these two sisters were able to be pregnant and have their babies so close together. My sister right above me had her youngest when I had my oldest…I remember many phone calls to her for advice, and I’m sure these sisters have spent lots of time on the phone too. So special that they got to spend this time together.

I’m so glad I was asked by Elaine to come take pictures while Karen was visiting. Daniel was a little out of sorts (who wouldn’t be with a long trip, new surroundings and jet-lag from a four hour time difference?) so he wanted to stick close to his mama. It made it challenging to get shots of the two babies together, but in the end it worked out just fine and we were able to get lots of wonderful lifestyle shots, which is exactly what I had anticipated with babies of this age. (Erica was around 3 weeks, and Daniel 9 weeks). Babies aren’t always peaceful and sleeping, especially past 2-3 weeks old, and I think most mamas would agree that life with a little one involves lots of cuddling and rocking. This is why I love capturing these kind of real-life shots. One day you’ll look back longingly at this amazing (and exhausting) time with your little ones and you’ll miss the cuddles and middle of the night feeds. I promise!

Sweet sweet baby girl. Eden was so good for her newborn session and barely made a peep! She is as beautiful as can be, love this little girl. Now that my babies are not really babies anymore, I sure love spending time with cuddly little ones, and it’s always a bonus when it’s a nephew or niece! Plus, I loved being able to chat with my sister during the session, always nice to catch up and reconnect. And doesn’t Marg look lovely? Love seeing her as a mama to two.

Newborn sessions are relaxed and easy-going and I always schedule lots of times for feeding, changing and cuddling to keep baby happy and content. Big brother Liam was sick on the day of Eden’s session, but hoping to catch some family images soon…perhaps with some of the beautiful cherry blossoms out right now?

Sweet baby Maya | Abbotsford Newborn Photographer

This little girl was an absolute sweetie! Even though she was awake and bright-eyed for most of the session, she barely made a peep. I still can’t get over how strong she was! I kept on thinking that she must have been kicking lots in her mama’s tummy…I predict she might be a runner or soccer player when she grows up!

On a more serious note, the day before Maya’s session was the devastating earthquake in Japan. Yoko’s mom was visiting and I can only imagine how hard it was to see her home country being rocked by such a massive natural disaster. Thankfully, none of their family was directly affected by the quake. My thoughts and prayers go out to those in Japan as they continue to deal with the effects of the quake and mourn the loss of loved ones. If you are looking for some Canadian organizations to donate to, check out: The Canadian Red Cross and World Vision Canada. Even though the news may not be giving as much attention to Japan just a few short weeks later, there is still much help needed there.

On another note, a big thank you to my clients for your patience as I am currently dreadfully behind on my editing! My kids have been on spring break the last two weeks, and in between outings, play dates, providing activities and entertainment, breaking up squabbles, and constantly cleaning up behind my lovely rugrats, there has been precious little time for work. I am working through my back-log and hope to be caught up again next week! Hoping to have some more sessions to share soon

Madison | Vancouver Newborn Photography

This little girl is absolutely adorable, and reminds me so much of her big sister as a newborn. They both look so much like their dad, but every once in a while I saw little peeks of their mama too coming through too. We had fun with some of my new photo props (adorable headbands and hats) and Madison was a very accommodating model! We had beautiful sunshine that day…it’s so rare to have wonderful light in the middle of the winter here!

You can’t quite see it in the pics, but the girls had adorable matching outfits that said “big sister” and “little sister”. So cute!
