Rachel Ludwig Photography | Abbotsford Portrait and Wedding Photographer bio picture

Welcome to Rachel Ludwig Photography!

Come on in, grab a cup of coffee (or in my case, that would be a non-fat, sugar-free vanilla, earl grey tea misto) and take a browse through my site. This is where I share images from recent sessions, post updates about Rachel Ludwig Photography, and sometimes I even sneak in a few pictures of my own family.

Want to know a little bit more about me? I've been married to my husband Tim for 11 years, and we have three loud, crazy and fun kids: Ethan (7), Arden (3) and Hudson (1). I also love to take pictures. I'm a lifestyle portrait and wedding photographer based in Abbotsford, BC and I photograph a little bit of everything, including babies, bellies, families, engagements, boudoir and weddings.

Oh....and don't be shy! You can leave a comment, pop me an email or use the contact form at any time. I promise I don't bite. :) I'd love to hear from you!

Jeremy Ludwig – Baritone | Ontario Opera

My brother-in-law Jeremy is a very talented opera singer. He has a rich and powerful baritone voice that I’ve been fortunate to hear perform on more than one occasion.  He just got his website up and running…check it out! You can see a list of upcoming performances and even hear a sample of his voice in action.

On one of his trips out west last year, I did some headshots for him. You can see one of them in use on his website’s header. It’s always cool to see my pictures in action. :) And because no blog post is complete without pictures, here are a few more:

Paragon Hair Concepts

I did a shoot for my awesome hair salon, Paragon Hair Concepts, a few weeks ago, and it was such a great experience! Barb has been cutting my hair for a very long time…12 or 13 years now I think, and I wouldn’t trust anyone else. Not only does she do my hair, but also my mom’s, my younger sisters’, and a few of my old coworkers’ too.

Barb was looking to update the images they have showcased in the salon, and I can’t wait to see which ones they choose! I got to work with some fabulous models with the coolest hair and makeup…check them out for yourselves, and let me know your faves! Isn’t that green hair so cool? And the blue lipstick? And a 50’s style pin-up girl? Talk about a photographer’s dream! :)

A big thanks to Barb, her stylists and their models for such a great shoot. Each stylist cut, styled and/or colored the hair of their model, plus had a vision for their session. Jenine did all the very cool makeup (except for Jasmine, the first model shown here, who did her own makeup).

Ingrid was Jasmine’s stylist, and I love the combination of the soft pretty curls with the glamorous makeup:

Leanne styled this handsome young man’s hair (and somehow saying that makes me feel *really* old, even if it really means that I forgot his name! I’m going to blame that on the Pregnancy-makes-you-forget- everything-Syndrome):

And this is Val, who was styled by Sonya…whose green hair is so funky-fabulous. And those eyelashes are killer.

Barb was the stylist of this gorgeous model Amanda…and as soon as I saw that funky blue lipstick, I knew exactly where to take her:

Katelyn styled her sister Allison’s hair with these uber-cool braids and twists…such a stylish and fun look:

Angie had a total 50’s pin-up girl Judy vision for this model, and I love how perfectly the hair, makeup and outfit all worked together.

Joni

I had a specific assignment to complete, so I called up my younger sister Joni asking her if she wanted to do some modeling for me. She quite happily agreed, and we had so much fun! Even though it was cold and a little damp outside that day, she was so easy going and she totally worked it. I can tell she’s an avid fan of America’s Next Top Model (just like me!) as she was putting on the moves. :)

For this shoot, my sister Elsa also came along as my ‘assistant’. I had so much fun hanging out with these two girls and connecting with them. Coming from a big family (I have 11 siblings), sometimes it’s hard to get that one-on-one time with everyone, so I just love opportunities like this to hang out, chat and catch up on each other’s lives. I gotta tell you, these two girls are real gems, and I’m so thankful to have them in my life. A big thank you to both of you, Joni and Elsa. Love you guys!

Here are a few of my faves from the session that I can share. Isn’t she gorgeous?:

I want her hair!! :)

This girl’s faith is so inspiring. At her age I was busy doing a lot of partying and things I probably shouldn’t have been doing. But she really lives her life for God in everything she does, and it just radiates from her. When I was in her room helping her select her outfit, I noticed she had written a bunch of her favorite Bible texts on her mirror…where she’d see them every day. I think that is so cool, and such a great idea! I really wanted to incorporate her faith into this shoot, and this was one of the resulting images, one of my favorites from the session.
