Aiden | Chilliwack Newborn Photography

This sweet little guy decided to make his appearance six weeks early, and had to spend some time in the hospital before he came home. Thankfully he is doing wonderfully; he’s growing well and doing all those things newborns are supposed to do. As a result of his early arrival, me being out of the country for two weeks, and Christmas, Aidan was almost 2 months old by the time we could do his newborn session. The good thing with preemies, is that they are still technically newborns, which meant that he performed fabulously and we were able to get a wonderful variety of sleeping and awake shots. Yay Aiden! You were fabulous!

I heart that shot where’s he’s smiling at his daddy. One of the benefits of an older baby is ‘real’ smiles!

That family shot. sigh. Watching parents fall in love with their baby is the best thing ever.

I was thrilled when Tricia contacted me to see if I could take her maternity and newborn photos. Even though I’m not officially taking on any sessions right now, I hold a special place in my heart for clients who have been in front of my camera before…you can check out Tricia & Bryan’s engagement pictures and wedding photos for a little trip down memory lane. I’m pretty sure these two are the sweetest couple I know, it’s quite adorable to watch how in love they are after more than 10 years together. It wasn’t hard to get these two to be romantic for the camera…and they totally knew the drill too, hold the pose/smooch/hug for more than 30 seconds! It was so great to catch up with you two, can’t wait to meet your little one and have him or her in front of my camera. Thanks for being so amazing! Enjoy your sneak peek:

This first image I took right after I arrived at the park, thinking of blowing it up big for the big blank wall in my family room…thoughts?

I loved the contrast of Trish’s red sweater with the muted landscape.

My absolute favorite image of the day…doesn’t she looks stunning? She knows how to work the camera, that’s for sure!

Seriously, that picture of Tricia , the upside down, blows me away. GORGEOUSNESS!!All the best with these last few weeks of pregnancy, I hope they go smoothly and quickly! Can’t wait to hear the good news

Lisa selected one of my very favorite locations for her maternity session, and we had the most perfect fall sunshine filtering through the trees at the hazelnut orchard. I have to say that it’s been one of the most beautiful fall in memory, lots of sunshine and beautiful fall colors…it doesn’t get much better than that. I’m so thankful we haven’t had the typical rainy fall that is so common to this area. Lisa and Steve also brought along their beautiful bull-mastiff puppy Sophie, I can’t believe that she is only 8-months old as she was super well behaved. I’m so glad we were able to grab a few shots with her in them.

Lisa and Steve, it was so wonderful to meet you. One of my favorite parts of being a photographer has always been arriving to a session to meet some strangers, and leaving as friends. I truly enjoyed our morning together! I hope you enjoy these images…can’t wait to hear for the good news of your little guy’s arrival and have him in front of my camera sometime this winter All the best in these last few months!

We also stumbled on this power line graveyard with the most perfect sunshine and a bit of grass. happiness to a photographer is pretty simple!

You may have noticed things have been a little quiet around here lately, and it’s for a reason. No, not THAT reason…no baby on the way here! However, I have decided that I’m going to be taking a bit of a break from Rachel Ludwig Photography. Lots of stuff going on right now…nothing terrible or earth shattering, but right now I need to focus on my family, which means photography will be put on the back burner for a while. You may still see some family and friends sessions being posted here on the blog from time to time though (hey, they don’t get off that easy!). I’m also hoping to find some time to focus on some personal photography projects.

Therefore, please note that I will not be accepting any new clients or taking on new sessions at this time.

I am feeling so thankful for my wonderful clients, friends and family who have supported me over the years. I am humbled that so many of you have entrusted me with capturing some of the most special moments in your life. Thank you just doesn’t seem enough, but from the bottom of my heart I’m so grateful for each of you…Thank you!

Baby Grayson | Abbotsford Newborn Photographer

This adorable and tiny little guy happens to be our newest nephew! So happy for Peter & Debby with the arrival of Grayson Edward, a little brother to Pierce. Debby & Peter are no strangers to this blog, and first appeared back when they were engaged in 2007. Just over four years later these two have expanded to four, and we couldn’t be happier for them! Hard to believe that it was less than two years ago that I was photographing Pierce as a baby…he’s grown up so much since then and now is a busy and happy toddler who is constantly on the go! I have a feeling these two boys are going to be keeping their parents on their toes

I hope that Grayson has been letting you guys get some sleep, and looking forward to seeing him (and all of you!) again soon…word on the streets is that he’s been busy packing on the pounds. Can’t wait to give his chub some snuggles

** One small note…I increased the image sizes slightly. Would love some feedback on that! Let me know if you think the images are too big, just right or could be even bigger? Thanks!

This kid is going to have some crazy hair! Double crowns on the top and a swirl/cowlick on the front.

I just loved the adorable ‘little brother’ onesie. so cute!

And that middle image…just had to include it! Pierce’s expressions just cracks me up.

It’s far from perfect technically, but it sure sums up life with two little ones, doesn’t it?

Isabella | Mission Newborn Photos

Brenda + Glen = adorable Isabella! She was sweet as could be, and even at 3 weeks old we were able to sneak in a few sleeping shots in between lots of super cute and adorable pictures. We had a beautifully warm and sunny day and the most perfect un-mown lawn…I just couldn’t resist heading outdoors. I so wish I could do newborn sessions outside all year! Even with the dog-poop incident #2. Glen really seems to be a magnet for these kind of things! Fortunately no mosquitoes this time around though. Phew!

One of my favorite parts of being a photographer is being able to capture the connections between people. There is something amazing when people let down their guards and open themselves up to me and my camera. Thank you Brenda and Glen for being yourselves, and allowing me to capture this very special time in your life. I loved seeing how smitten you both were with your sweet little girl.

Jas, Mick & Ty | Abbotsford Family Photos

After having to rebook this session a few times due to rain and bad weather, I was thrilled that we finally had a lovely evening to capture this beautiful family. The goal for this session was to capture the fun and spunky Ty at three-years-old, and I love the personality we captured from this handsome young guy! Those chocolate brown eyes of his just had me hooked. The mosquitoes were absolutely insane at the hazelnut farm…we were swatting away swarms of them the entire time when we were there. Thanks for being such troopers, it was definitely worth it.

A huge thank you to my clients who have been so patient with me this summer.. our summer schedule has been lovely and challenging at the same time. I have been kept busy with my three kiddos, and we’ve been trying to soak up the sun and do lots of outings this summer. Add in a family reunion, house guests and some holidays, and it has resulted in less computer time than normal. Even though I’m dreading the end of summer and school starting up again, I am looking forward to getting caught up again and some child-free time (I am simultaneously in denial and ecstatic that my two littlest ones will be in preschool and kindergarten in September…eeek!).

On to pictures of these three (soon to be four!). Such a sweet, beautiful and fun family…it was such a great way to spend a sunny evening!

The first one in this series just cracked me up. I did mention that Ty was a spunky little guy, didn’t I?

And the last one too…Apparently Ty is anti-kissing!

(which his parents will surely be happy about if he continues that into his teen years, right?)

Tracy, Dan, Tristan and Isabella | Mission Family Photographer

I met Tracy many years ago through the scrapbooking industry, and while I have completely fallen off the scrapbooking wagon (I think the last time I did any scrapbooking was when I was pregnant with Hudson…my poor baby does not have a single page for his album!) she is still busy in the scrapbook industry.

It was a pleasure to see her again and meet her sweet family. We have talked about doing a shoot for years, so I was excited to finally have them in front of my camera. I was thrilled to start their session in their beautiful home, which they did an amazing job of renovating and decorating it. I particularly love the mix of vintage/antique stuff with modern touches. Check out that fabulous yard-stick headboard! And some of you might have seen that awesome Home Sweet Home wall on Pinterest (which, by the way, if you haven’t checked out Pinterest before, it’s the most amazing site where you can save your favorite finds from the web…a plethora of visual inspiration!).

Anyways, on to pictures! This is the first time I’ve had to edit out multiple mosquitoes from images. They were out in full force and we were being swarmed and bitten like crazy. Thanks for being troopers…it was definitely worth it

it was almost like snow in July, but, we did manage to get a few with Tristan smiling! yay!

(for those of you with 15-year-old boys, you know that smiling for photos is not the cool thing to do. haha)

Such a good looking family! Some of these pictures were taking very near to a bear trap. I may or may not have been a little paranoid!

Sweet Baby Zoe | Abbotsford Baby Photography

You might remember the beautiful Shayla from her maternity session a while back, and this sweet little peanut was inside that perfect little baby belly! I loved seeing Shayla and Chris as first time parents…so relaxed and totally smitten with their beautiful little girl. She was an absolute dream to photograph, and we got a nice range of sleeping, awake and family shots. Congratulations again Shayla and Chris, all the best as you embark on this lovely journey of parenthood. Enjoy your sneak peek!

I loved that Shayla had this beautiful heirloom christening gown that she had worn as well as other family members.

I have to say, that I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so much at a session as I did with this one…Brenda and Glen were an absolute delight, and Glen had Brenda and I laughing at with him at his antics the entire time. Even with all the crazy mosquitoes and a teeny-tiny dog poop incident (on a tangent…why oh why don’t pet owners clean up after their dogs?) it was a wonderful way to spend a warm and sunny Canada Day. We all left the session covered in bites, but thank goodness for a little bit of PhotoShop magic .
