Rachel Ludwig Photography | Abbotsford Portrait and Wedding Photographer bio picture

Welcome to Rachel Ludwig Photography!

Come on in, grab a cup of coffee (or in my case, that would be a non-fat, sugar-free vanilla, earl grey tea misto) and take a browse through my site. This is where I share images from recent sessions, post updates about Rachel Ludwig Photography, and sometimes I even sneak in a few pictures of my own family.

Want to know a little bit more about me? I've been married to my husband Tim for 11 years, and we have three loud, crazy and fun kids: Ethan (7), Arden (3) and Hudson (1). I also love to take pictures. I'm a lifestyle portrait and wedding photographer based in Abbotsford, BC and I photograph a little bit of everything, including babies, bellies, families, engagements, boudoir and weddings.

Oh....and don't be shy! You can leave a comment, pop me an email or use the contact form at any time. I promise I don't bite. :) I'd love to hear from you!

A few updates

So you may notice that I’ve made a few changes around here (if you are reading on a blog reader, come on over and have a look!), it was on my list for a long time to upgrade my blog, and I’m so glad I finally did it! Yes I know I’m in the middle of one of my busiest times of the year…I promise I’ll be back to blogging sessions soon. Be sure to check out the ‘About Me’ link (I posted a picture of myself…eeek!) and the pricing page. If you haven’t already, you can also subscribe to receive emails when new posts are added to my site.

I also created a Facebook page (yes, I’ve been obsessed. I mean busy with getting all these long overdue changes in place). Become a fan and be the first to hear about special offers and updates from Rachel Ludwig Photography. There’s currently an offer going on, so mozy on over, have a look and become a fan.

Next up (after I edit my current sessions that is) I will be updating my galleries and the slideshow at the top of my blog. Keep your eyes open for some more updates!

I’d love to hear your feedback on the changes. Feel free to leave a comment or so hi! :)

Jeremy Ludwig – Baritone | Ontario Opera

My brother-in-law Jeremy is a very talented opera singer. He has a rich and powerful baritone voice that I’ve been fortunate to hear perform on more than one occasion.  He just got his website up and running…check it out! You can see a list of upcoming performances and even hear a sample of his voice in action.

On one of his trips out west last year, I did some headshots for him. You can see one of them in use on his website’s header. It’s always cool to see my pictures in action. :) And because no blog post is complete without pictures, here are a few more:

Vanoene Family | Aldergrove Family Photographer

When I found out that Jackie had asked for (and gotten!) pictures from me for her birthday….A big milestone kind of birthday… I was so happy to hear that, and definitely a little nervous. I mean, that’s a pretty big deal! Big birthdays usually are the perfect excuse to ask for a super special gift. And the fact that she chose me to help deliver that, is pretty cool I think. Not to mention her husband and boys who gave that to her AND were totally game for coming along! :)

She was looking for some ’summer-kissed’ pictures, so I was crossing all my fingers and toes for some nice sunshine! We planned their session for late afternoon/early evening which is my very favorite time to shoot on a sunny day. The light is soft, beautiful and golden, and makes for amazing pictures. Fortunately, we were blessed with the perfect weather. Add in a cute family with three fun boys and one of my favorite shooting locations (the Westminster Abbey in Mission of course!) and we were set.

Thanks for a great evening Jackie and Brad…I had so much fun chatting with you guys and meeting your adorable boys Cole, Nate and Jaxon! Enjoy your sneak peek :)

Devries Family | Abbotsford Family Photography

I shared a mini sneak-peek last week for Lisa & Jason and their six kiddos, and as promised, here is the full version. :)

One thing Lisa said to me…was that this was the first time that her and Jason had pictures taken of the two of them since they were married! I think it’s so important to not only document your children and family as they grow, but also you and your spouse as well! That last black and white picture of them? Love it! I did some more vintage-y editing on a few…I think it gives these outdoor pics a nice soft and casual feel.

The last two shots on this one…I think they are my new faves. That very last one is the one I’d blow up huge for over my fireplace!

Everett with his ‘praying hands’, Zach with the big grin, Marshall not wanting to stand,

Michaela pulling a tween pose, April pulling a smile in the hopes it’ll all be over soon, and Savannah ready to run!

I love shots like that when they really capture personalities….and I think that one got them all. What do you think Lisa? :)

Enjoy the rest of your sneak peek…I’ll be in touch soon with your slideshow and ordering gallery!

Brown Family | Abbotsford Family Portrait Photography

Where do I start with this fun and fabulous family? Check out the great outfits…I love all the colors and patterns Alyssa chose! Alyssa has become a great friend over the last year and a half. I love that we share a passion for photography. Our youngest two are close in age so we get them together sometimes to hang out and they love it. I was excited when they asked me to do pictures…it’s always fun to do pictures for fellow photogs as they are usually game for just about anything.

We started out the shoot with Evan, their youngest, a little unhappy about some new teeth coming in. But you can see that it didn’t last for long and he was back to his happy and smiling self in no time. For the shot of the kids with the nerd glasses, we had the cutest little mustache for Evan…but he didn’t think it was near as cute as we did! And Alyssa & Eric in the nerd glasses just crack me up. Eric just turned the big 3-0 and they had a nerd party…so I couldn’t resist taking some of the two of them pulling some crazy faces. haha. :) We pulled out the ‘light saber’ bubbles too. Always a big hit!

We headed to an urban location…there were some guys working on some go-karts in one of the buildings, and they asked us if we were eco-terrorists!

We laughed so hard. What the heck is up with that? They must’ve been up to no good is my guess ;)

Evan is not quite walking…the perfect age to take pictures!

PS. Doesn’t Alyssa look fabulous? Hot mama! Even though Arden informed me that she thought her shirt should have been pink and not purple. LOL! She cracks me up!

Devries Family | Abbotsford Family Photography

I know Lisa is dying to see a sneak peek of her family pictures…and although I’ve been absolutely swamped with a bunch of shoots, fitting in the last camping trip of the summer, back to school craziness and my sister’s wedding tomorrow (yippee!), I decided to put her out of her misery and share what I think is my favorite image from their session. :) They chose one of my favorite shooting locations: Westminster Abbey in Mission.

And yes….you counted right. They have SIX kids! And the youngest two are one year apart. I think they deserve a medal or something, don’t you? Three just about does me in some days, I can’t even imagine six. But they seem to have it all down pat and figured out because the kids were all super sweet and behaved so well.

Enjoy your sneak peek Jason & Lisa! And keep your eyes peeled, I’ll be posting your full sneak peek next week plus a few other sessions as well. I have lots of fun stuff to share!
