Rachel Ludwig Photography | Abbotsford Portrait and Wedding Photographer bio picture

Welcome to Rachel Ludwig Photography!

Come on in, grab a cup of coffee (or in my case, that would be a non-fat, sugar-free vanilla, earl grey tea misto) and take a browse through my site. This is where I share images from recent sessions, post updates about Rachel Ludwig Photography, and sometimes I even sneak in a few pictures of my own family.

Want to know a little bit more about me? I've been married to my husband Tim for 11 years, and we have three loud, crazy and fun kids: Ethan (7), Arden (3) and Hudson (1). I also love to take pictures. I'm a lifestyle portrait and wedding photographer based in Abbotsford, BC and I photograph a little bit of everything, including babies, bellies, families, engagements, boudoir and weddings.

Oh....and don't be shy! You can leave a comment, pop me an email or use the contact form at any time. I promise I don't bite. :) I'd love to hear from you!

Julie & Jeremy | London Ontario Wedding Photography

In July, Tim, Hudson and I had a whirlwind weekend trip to Ontario to celebrate Jeremy (Tim’s younger brother) and Julie’s wedding. Family weddings on Tim’s side always end up being a mini family reunion because the siblings are spread out over Canada and Australia and weddings are a great reason to get together and see everyone! Although not everyone was able to be there, it was a wonderful weekend with lots of laughter, and not near enough sleep, and too much rain…but it was perfect!

And, even with the crazy amount of rain that started and ended Julie and Jeremy’s wedding day, we were blessed with clear skies and even some sunshine for the pictures. When I woke up to rain on their wedding day, I started to get a little worried as we were in a fairly remote location with not a ton of indoor or covered options close by. Fortunately the rain stopped just as we were starting portraits, and didn’t start again until after the ceremony. Thank you God!

A huge thanks to my sister-in-law Colleen for coming along and second shooting for me. I know she was a little nervous about it, but she did a great job and I was so happy to have her there to help out…couldn’t have done it without her :)

Now on to the pictures…I will probably be sharing some more in the next few weeks, but here are a few of my early faves:

Julie had some fantabulous shoes. Love the metallic heels!

We started out the portraits at Julie’s parents’ beautiful farm…she is the 7th generation to live there. How neat is that?

These two are just so darn cute together. That swing shot is one of my faves I think :)

The flowers were gorgeous, and Julie looked amazing…I thought her hair suited her perfectly!

They were married in the church Julie grew up in…the building has beautiful stained glass windows and is over 100 years old.

I shot the gold colored image through this fantastic grate in the balcony (in case you were wondering!)

The shot of Jeremy, Hudson and my Father-in-Law is because they all the same initials…HJL. :)

Storyboards

One of my favorite parts about preparing the online ordering galleries for my clients, is the storyboards I create. I know that so many people (myself included!) struggle with the best way to showcase photos in their home. Storyboards are such a great way to tell your story. I think there’s something powerful about combining images together, and I think storyboards are the perfect way to do that and are a great way to display photos in your home.

Here are a few favorites that I made for Heather & Dave’s recent session:

My very favorite…I’ve been waiting for the perfect images to use this design, and I love how it turned out!

Heather & Dave | Abbotsford Engagement Photographer

Combine a fun & fabulous couple who have great taste and wardrobes, with a fun night out at the local Abbotsford AgriFair, and some smokin’ hot temperatures…and you get some amazing images. Thank you so much Heather and Dave. Nnot only for being up for pretty much anything, but also for totally rockin’ it throughout the shoot, even with the record breaking temperatures of 38 degrees (that is Celcius for my American friends…over the 100 degree Fahrenheit mark, extremely hot and unusual for here). I’ve been wanting to do a shoot at the fair for a very long time, and was so excited when these two were game…it was definitely worth it I think! I should also mention that the carnies at the fair let us do pretty much anything. A beautiful girl with some smokin’ shoes…they were tripping over themselves to help us out!

You will also notice that I had fun playing with some vintagey colors for these photos. I thought these images were perfect for this look. However, like always, Ialso  always have the standard color and/or black and white options to choose from as well.

I have so many favorites I didn’t even know where to start, but with almost 200 (! crazy, I know. But these two were good!)  final images from their session, I had lots to choose from :) . Enjoy your sneak peek Heather and Dave, I’ll be in touch with the rest of your images in a few days. :)

* Notice at the bottom of the images that you can share this post with Facebook, Twitter and more. Let me know how you like this new feature!

The ferris wheel pics are my absolute favorites I think.

So thankful that the guy working the ride was able to get me in the right spot, and gave us lots of time to grab the shots I wanted.

I love that we were able to sneak in some nature shots at the end of the session…a perfect juxtaposition to the more urban style from the fair!
