I’ve known Jude’s mom, Leanne for a very long time and we seem to like sharing birthdays. Our second children (my daughter Arden and her son Jesse) were born on the same day, and Jude happened to be born on my birthday. I know those are two birthdays I won’t forget (and I’ll fully admit I’m not the best at remembering birthdays!).
We did this session when he was exactly two weeks old. I usually recommend that a newborn session be done in the first 10 days as babies are usually still very sleepy and curled up at that point. After the 10 day mark they tend to become more alert and start wanting to stretch out, and Jude was no exception to this. But even with that, he did great! I knew a few tricks to settle him in, and we even managed to get some sleeping pictures too.
Thanks Leanne for bringing your adorable little guy by. It was so fun to hold and snuggle a brand new baby, especially as Hudson is not so little anymore…I’m hoping (and Tim is hoping even more!) that regular contact with newborns will keep my baby fever in check.
Here are a few favorites:

his expression here totally cracks me up…looking so serious!

Someone’s getting sleepy! I always love a good yawn or crying pic

Aleeping…ahhhh, so sweet. Love the little smile

A new backdrop…and I was totally channeling my buddy Marie, a fabulous Raleigh, North Carolina photographer, with these shots:

Nothing quite like a beautiful mama and her brand new baby

Isn’t she gorgeous? Seeing this shot is making me miss the cuddly/sleeping newborn on your chest, which is officially the best thing ever:
