It’s official…

The Rachel Ludwig Photography website is up and running! You can check it out here. Please let me know what you think, I’d love some feedback!

A big thanks to my friend Karin for helping with all the behind the scenes work. I couldn’t have done it without her! (If you need any web work done, be sure to contact her…she’s amazing at what she does.)

So, in honor of my new website launching, I thought I’d do something fun. If you’ve never had a PhotoSession with me, but would like to, please leave a comment in the comment section here. Next week I’ll randomly select someone to receive a $50 print credit.

Marietta & Jake

I was so excited when Marietta booked a Belly to Baby package. There’s something extra special about the journey to parenthood and the birth of a family. It’s such an amazing, miraculous and life changing time in a couple’s life, and I’m always honored to be asked to capture a part of that journey. I really wanted this to reflect that time and capture these last few days of just the two of them.

Marietta & Jake also happen to live on this amazing piece of property that is home to a horse show park with so many great shooting locations. Add to that the most fun and amazing laugh ever (Marietta), one very calm but excited father to be (Jake), an adorable dog (Jack) and beautiful evening light…together they made for an amazing PhotoSession.

Thanks again you two. I know you’re going to make wonderful parents. I can’t wait to meet your new little bundle of joy!

Here are a few of my favorites:

I’m really loving the American Gothic poses right now. I’m thinking of doing one of these every session and making a little album of them or something. Just for fun. :)

We had to get the horses in on the action too. Fortunately they cooperated. As soon as they saw the dog Jack they came right on over.

Doesn’t she look amazing? I can’t believe she’s 9 months pregnant.

Marietta_jake_0115_bwweb

Jake and Jack, are kind of similar names, wouldn’t you agree? Right before this picture I completely embarassed myself by slapping my leg and calling for the dog by calling him Jake instead of Jack. Oops! Sorry Jake! :)

The Leyenhorsts

This family is close friends of ours. As a matter of fact, I’ve probably known Jacoba the longest out of all of my friends, as our friendship dates back to our preschool years and many Saturdays of family swimming at the Canada Games pool when we were kids. I went to elementary school with Jacoba and Tim & I went to highschool with both Kevin & Jacoba. We got married one year minus one day apart and our oldest boys are only a few months apart and the best of buds. How cool is that?

So needless to say, I was honored when they asked me to take their family pictures. Here are a few favorites from their session in Fort Langley.

This one is one of my faves. Gotta love that after 8 years of marriage and three kiddos there’s still lots of laughter :)

A local toy store gave the boys these worms…and they were having fun making mustaches from them. Too funny!

And we can’t forget this cute little guy…who I think was quite convinced if he flapped his arms enough he might actually fly (easier than crawling, don’t you think?) :)

Adorable Quinton

This little guy kept me running, but he was oh so cute and I couldn’t resist his beautiful blond curls and lovely dark brown eyes! I know his mom is dying to see a sneak peek, so here are a few faves from our session. :)

Bonny & Graeme

Lots of family pictures here lately! My sister-in-law Bonny, with her boyfriend Graeme, were here from Australia for the family weddings and stayed at our house while they were visiting. It was so great to have them around (motivated me to cook, it was nice to have extra hands to help around the house, and the kids loved having some more people around to play with!). Bonny and Graeme are now on a 6-month backpacking trip through Mexico and Central America…lucky them!

They wanted to take us out for dinner before they left, so we headed into Vancouver and went to Granville Island. We took some time before we ate to to do a mini photosession. The sun was just starting to set, so we had some great light and I just loved all the color we found everywhere.

Al & Meg’s Wedding

I was the official wedding photographer for Al (one of Tim’s younger brothers) & Meg’s wedding, and they were awesome! It was so fun to not only be able to witness their special day, but to be able to play a special role in capturing their day was awesome. And the best part was they totally trusted me, even after I dragged them through a wet and mushy field and made them stand against all sorts of grimy walls. And this was all while Meg was wearing her vintage wedding dress (made by her great great grandmother, and worn by her grandmother). Thanks for being such troopers Al & Meg!

I’m not done editing all the pictures I took yet, but here are some of my favorites:

Meg looking radiant. She was so calm and laid-back all day.

The aforementioned dress. They did some minor alterations, but it’s pretty similar to what her grandmother wore 63 years ago!

Al_meg_0281web

Some more vintageness….Meg received this piano as a gift from her great grandmother

Meg had wanted a country posie bouquet. I think they captured that perfectly for her.

Her grandmother putting her pearls on Meg.

Meg and her dad as they are about to leave for the church. Her parents have a beautiful piece of property with wonderful landscaping where they hosted the reception.

A slightly nervous groom.

Al and his brother Jeremy….two peas in a pod.

I may be biased, but the ringbearer and flowergirl were adorable!

They got married in this beautiful old church, it was a great location for some portraits while it rained!

Debby & Peter’s Wedding

My husband’s side of the family had a fun and busy time at the end of August when we got to celebrate not one, but two weddings. In two days. Yes, it was a little crazy, but in the end it worked out really well and we all had a great time!

My husband Tim’s younger sister Debby and her new husband Peter were married first on Friday August 24th here in Abbotsford. I was asked to take some pictures while Debby was getting ready, and of course I managed to snap a few more shots during the ceremony and reception as well.

Here’s a few of my favorite shots from the day:

I’ve been having fun with shoe shots lately.

You have to have at least one shot with the rollers in, right?

Or maybe two :)

She was such a beautiful bride! Even with the funny look on her face.

Aren’t the flowers gorgeous?

I popped my head into the men’s waiting room prior to the ceremony, and I just had to grab a quick shot when I saw this…Peter’s brother (and best man) creating a “Wedding Tactical Schematic”. Too funny!

Debby_peter_0073web

And my handsome little ringbearer…he sure looked spiffy in a tux. He wasn’t quite sure about the pink vest and tie, but partway through the day he declared that “pink is my lucky number!”.

Debby_peter_0033_bwweb

He slept through the entire ceremony and got more than a few giggles as his head kept nodding onto the flower girl’s shoulder.
